Education is fundamental for achieving full human potential, developing an equitable and just society, and promoting national development. India will have the highest population of young people in the world over the next decade, and the ability to provide high-quality educational opportunities to them will determine the future of the country. Keeping this in mind, a new National Education Policy 2020 was approved by Union Cabinet on July 29, 2020, after a long span of 34 years with an aim to make India a global knowledge superpower. The government has set the target to invest 6% of GDP in the education sector for the purpose.
